The boys know that we don't really eat foods that contain food coloring or dye. While they are quite fascinated with neon shade of the "Blue Moo" ice cream at Calder's Dairy, they will also come right out and tell you "We don't eat that because its got a lot of food dye!" The lady behind the counter was quite caught off guard the first time Caleb announced this, for he wasn't quite 3 years old at the time! So although we don't technically eat the food dye that we color Easter eggs with, we thought it would be fun to dye our eggs with all natural colors this year. We had a fun family morning boiling different fruits, veggies, and spices to make our dyes, and it was exciting to watch our eggs in action since none of us had any idea how they'd actually turn out! I've gotta say- I'm quite pleased!!! They aren't the vibrant neon colors most people are used to, but they are perfectly US and that's all I can hope for in life- that we are true to ourselves and happy with who we are! And if I have any luck in getting my dear hubby out of the city, next year we might even dye eggs from our very own chickens :) So on the day that God sacrificed his only son so that we could live this wonderful life- Happy Good Friday from the Paddocks.
