We spent our spring break week doing three things- First we celebrated birthdays (my dad's and mine) with some wonderful dinners and a delicious chocolate cake the boys made for Grandpa. It was seriously to die for. I don't think we can ever make it again because we would just eat the entire thing!
We also spent the week visiting local museums. We took the boys to the Detroit Institute of Arts for the first time as we have been studying a little bit of Van Gogh and Di Vinci. They actually spent a solid 45 minutes fully engaged in the art- and they turned quite a few heads with their knowledge of and excitement about the Van Gogh paintings!! We also stopped by their favorite downtown museum- The Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle- though no ships were passing by because the Great Lakes are still frozen solid. Later in the week we went to the Ann Arbor Museum of Natural History to check out some of the dinosaur bones that the boys love so much. We discovered the place on a little field trip with my mother's of multiples group and it is the perfect size for little kids. Our last museum actually required a road trip to Grand Rapids. Adam Reed Tucker has his Lego Architecture on exhibit at the Grand Rapids Museum and we've been waiting to take the boys. We managed to keep it a total surprise until we walked into the lobby of the museum and the boys were face to face with a 10 foot tall Lego replica of the Burj Khalifa and they about burst with excitement! We were also able to visit another Frank Lloyd Wright house in Grand Rapids and Jon found this hole in the wall soup place that had the most delicious soup in the whole entire world!
Our last adventure was assisting with the newborn photographs of our best friends' triplets! I have been working as a newborn assistant for Photography by Meredith Keith for the last two years and I just love, love, love it! Meredith had this vision for a photo but needed a special prop. Jon was able to build it for her- entirely from scratch and by his own design. It turned out absolutely incredible and the babies and their 2 year old brother were so cooperative... the picture is the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life! It was great to spent the day with our friends and their new family. Even when I've held other newborn babies, it usually doesn't bring back memories of the boys as newborns because most newborns are already twice the size that our boys were. But holding and changing and feeding the triplets brought back floods of memories or Jon and I- which is great, because you kind of need something to trigger those memories as much of the first six months of their little lives are kind of a blur! Kevin and Nina- you have the most beautiful family and we love you all so much! Meredith- Most fun session with you ever, and you really outdid yourself this time!!! Here are a few photos- the rest can be seen at Photography by Meredith Keith
The bunkbeds Jon made :)
At no time did my hands ever leave these little guys- An incredible series to show how these composite photos were made!
