The boys had dance class right after the early morning hunt, and then I had to finish teaching two more classes at the dance studio- then we were finally able to head up north! The boys ran around outside and played their little hearts out for the evening. Just before dusk we all piled into the van and drove over to Rigby's woodcock spot for an evening hunt. We have taken the boys to this hunting spot every year since they were babies- it was a bittersweet moment for me to see them running around beside Rigby this year instead of all bundled up and being pushed in their stroller! Daddy managed to shoot three woodcock over Rigby before it got too dark- an incredible opening day for both of them! YAY!
Sunday morning daddy, Rigby, and Uncle Jeff got up early to go duck hunting again while the boys played in the chalet. When the big boys got back from hunting we made Grammy and Grampy a big pancake breakfast complete with Mackinaw Bridge pancakes and Firth of Forth Bridge pancakes... because you know, that's normal, right?! We spent the morning playing out side with our cousins and packed up to head home a little after lunch. Tomorrow is back to business- Jon has two late nights for conferences at school this week and the boys have a play date with their buddy Drew on Tuesday... but for the weekend, it was so nice to be unplugged and in the woods! Can't wait 'til we can get back up north!!!
