Everyone had a million questions about how Jon built the beanstalk from scratch, so we promised to do a step by step photo post on how to build a 13 foot tall beanstalk. So if you ever find yourself in a situation where you desperately need a giant beanstalk and you just don't know where to start- here you go!!!
Step 1: Take twins to Lowes to buy materials. Please take careful note that neither child is phased by their seating arrangements- this clearly isn't their first rodeo!
Steps 2, 3, and 4: Build framework from 2x4s. Wrap in chicken wire. Fashion stems for the leaves.
Don't forget to build a spot for Twin A!!
Close up of chicken wire and stem holder.
Step 5: Make Monster Mud- 4 parts joint compound to 1 part latex paint
Stir thoroughly!!!!!
Step 6: Cover strips of old fabric in Monster Mud. Apply to chicken wire frame.
Repeat until covered.
Almost there!
Smoothing the last piece :)
Step 7: Let dry overnight
Steps 8 and 9: Check to see if Twin A fits in beanstalk. Push cart around park to check for balance. When passersby stop their cars to stare at you, yell out "What?! You didn't know there was a parade today?!"
Step 10: Allow twins to paint beanstalk.
Step 11: Take lots of photos of twins painting the beanstalk.
Step 12: Fill bathtub and locate Brillo pads!
Step 13: Decorate with vines and leaves. Also decorate children.
Step 14: Enter greatest parade ever!!!!!!!!!
Twice Upon a Time
HAPPY TWINS DAYS 2013!!!
