California Remix- Day 8

A short blog today- though somehow I'm still exhausted even though we finally somewhat of a down day.

Because it was a TON cheaper for us to rent our car for one week then re-rent it for four weeks instead of renting one car for the full 35 days, we had to drive back down to the airport to switch cars.  The traffic down wasn't too bad so we had time for a quick detour- Jon wanted to see the Watts Towers.  I'm just thankful he didn't make us get out of the car!  We got to the car rental place at 11:00am and though we could have kept our same car (which would have been easier being that the car seats were already in it), we switched cars so that we could have a Ford Focus...  it just felt better :)  By the time we were done with that we only had a little bit of time to kill before the boys' audition.  We had packed a lunch so we stopped at the La Brea Tar Pits since we were in that part of town.  With the boys being big on the food truck idea, we let them pick something from the giant line of food trucks just outside the tar pits and they picked a fresh fruit smoothie to add to their lunch- yum! We had our picnic lunch looking in at the tar pits and watched a dragon fly get stuck which is pretty super cool to see if you are a four year old boy.  Then it was audition time! Luckily we didn't have to wait too long once we checked in.  The boys got paired with a man and woman to make a fake family for the audition.  They got paired up and introduced about 10 minutes before they were called in so they had some time to get to know the man and woman- and lucky for the boys, they were both really awesome!  By the time they all got called in, the boys were quite comfortable and chatty.  When they finished, both the man and woman said the boys were fantastic and very professional- which is more info than we ever, ever get from inside those closed doors!  Most importantly, the boys walked out with big smiles on their faces and said they were on their best behavior and had fun.  So we'll mark that as a whopping success in our book!!  After the audition, we stopped at another little park in Beverly Hills to let the boys run off some steam.  I'm quite fond of the little parks in Beverly Hills.  Really quite fond of them.  There was a house for sale near this one too- on top of a giant hill- and it is only listed for 9.5 million...  sheesh!  The boys found a couple of kids they played beautifully with for nearly an hour and then we headed home to do some shopping and make some dinner.  We're just laying low for the evening because tomorrow we're going to make the trek down to LEGOLAND.  It's a long drive and I'm still not super excited- so wish us luck!!
